In 1998 the German city of Minden celebrated its 1200th anniversary. Mail-artists and writers from around the world were invited to send their work to the city to celebrate this event. Some 140 contributions were displayed at the town’s museum. This video records them all. If you think sitting through a display of postcards and posters would be boring, let me assure it isn't. The video footage includes film of the city and even a welcome from their equivalent of a town-crier. The music sets the tone for a view of some remarkable artwork from countries as far afield as Canada, New Zealand and Argentina. | ||
