BEATRICE WOOD: MAMA OF DADA
|
This film is a portrait of a remarkable artist, a working centurion. As a child she devoured books, was a dreamer, became a loner but an individualist who believed love in reality an illusion. She took up drawing in 1913 under the influence of Marcel Duchamp. A crushed romantic; when her heart was broken, laughter fell out. Madly curious, despite her age she is an accomplished potter working with lustre glazes and reduction firing with unpredictable results. This is a marvellous portrait of an extraordinary woman.
