POETRY: AMERICAN, BRITISH, WORLD

This CD-ROM does exactly what it says on the tin. It contains a massive collection of books by and about poets writing in English, with a smattering of Welsh and Latin for good measure.

Over 100 poets are represented, ranging in time from Beowulf to Frost. In addition there are various anthologies and specialised collections. I was fascinated by the collection of war poetry of the Confederacy, and spent a lot of time delightedly browsing the Mabinogion.

I noticed GM Hopkins and John Clare are missing, and copyright considerations prevent the reproduction of very recent work.

Most of the books are copied in plain text for ease of access.

This is a treasure trove, with many rare, out of print books and is a cheap, invaluable reference source — a whole poetry library contained in a single CD-ROM.
