SARA HASLAM: THE POETRY OF THOMAS HARDY

This comprehensive CD-ROM contains Hardy's COMPLETE POEMS (all 947 of them) along with a series of drop-down menus handily arranged for teachers and researchers. It includes a number of interesting commentaries by students of Hardy.

There's an excellent introduction, a bibliography and a useful search engine listing 150 key words and providing all their cross-references. Good use is made of audio and video to supplement the text, and it's a delight to hear many of Hardy's best poems read aloud.
This is a fine, comprehensive scholarly work, carefully designed to be easily navigable and user-friendly. I believe it will become essential reading for teachers and serious students of Hardy and will find a ready audience, not least because the COMPLETE WORKS is currently, disgracefully, out of print but you can find it here.

I look forward to seeing similar works by these authors on some of our other major poets.
