The Layabout #4 | |
|
Presented in a large A4 booklet, The Layabout, looks and reads like a humourous fanzine spliced with a spoof Victorian story book. Cartoons and short stories are the order of the day here and, unlike some fanzines, they're actually funny. One of my favourites is the case of the former serial poisoner taking on a job at a sweets manufacturer What was your method of administering the poison to your victims? My favourite method was the placing of poison in chocolate drinks.Top stuff! BUTTERFIELD, one of the main cartoon strips that makes more than one appearance is suitably raucous, coming off like a latter-day Flashman raised on Viz instead of Tom Browning's schooldays. By the looks of it, The Layabout's creators have taken a lot of good time and trouble over the content and appearance of this publication and it shows. A very worthwhile purchase indeed. | ||
