NEW HOPE INTERNATIONAL REVIEW ON-LINE

War torn Yugoslavia is recovering and the people of Novi Sad, twinned with Norwich, are keen to maintain and improve their links with the rest of the world. This magazine is a good example of the expertise, talent and enterprise that Novi Sad nurtures. This reviewer's father and brother visit Novi Sad regularly and can vouch for the friendliness of its inhabitants. British poets wanting another outlet for their own haiku should consider sending their work for consideration to this magazine.

Do not be put off by the magazine's Yugoslav origins. The first half of the magazine presents haiku and commentary in the Yugoslav language. The second half of the book is entitled Haiku Moment in English. A comparison of the two halves shows that the selection of poems is different. The English haiku either stand alone or are shown with parallel translations. A plus is that not only can you read haiku by English-speaking poets but Yugoslav poets have their work translated into English thus giving English readers an insight into Yugoslav work.
