Countryside Tales #13

A 52 page, A5 stapled booklet with some clip art images.

Nostalgic, with plenty of grandparents and childhood memories scattered throughout. This is idyllic reminiscent material, harping back to childhood, and the loss of things past. I expect that many of the readers will identify with the sentiment in the articles included.

It is well edited, and gives a pleasant read, especially on cold, dismal days. It is a sharing of thoughts about the countryside and bygone days. The standard is good as in MANSTON WOODS, by Joy Males:

This man, I thought, is a long way from home. Just like my dad. I reached out my hand and brushed the tears from his face. "Don't cry. Home soon," I whispered, and he smiled at me: just like he had smiled at his own little girl.

I never told anyone that I had been to Manston Woods.
I recognise some of the contributors. This is from a poem by Joan Sheridan Smith:
He checks to climb a Yule log,
pounds his feet in powdery whiteness
and lifts a fallen leaf to see
its edge all rimmed with frost.
