This isn't Peter Sansom's Bronte poem So I'm not going to take you through each room. * Rydal Water's the Lake Writers' atrium: Two measured scales of levelled opium. Targetted between the coffee shop Museum/gallery and gift shop Dove Cottage, accessible by all the local Bus routes. A short walk. Grasmere's focal Point. A clod for tractor tyre and hoof: The big-arsed, towny-brained American can't get enough. * I felt the vibes in Coleridge's room: Eyes of the poet's portrait burned. Like Rome. I'm not Blake: I don't see angels But strung from the ceiling's unreliable angles Like suicides, a steady finger's breadth Poised and waiting on a fine hair's breath Plucking aeolian chords Spider bodies with human heads. The boards creaked, sighed: ' ...the tour guides' Coleridge Is a nasty, disyllabic, Col'ridge.' |
