John Carley was born in Manchester, UK, 1955.
He came late to poetry via
commercial lyric writing, translation, and salesmanship (an activity he
describes as providing an excellent grounding in fiction). Having worked
extensively in France and Italy he now lives in the Lancashire hill
country a landscape which forms the background to much of his poetry.
Sometime househusband and creative writing tutor, he now divides his time
between education support work with special needs children and poetry
workshops for children and young adults.
