hyena's erection twenty-seven schoolgirls stand transfixed |
fire plays on your face and the cat's fur is too hot to stroke |

in the cool aisles the tang of strawberries guides my trolly |
the tree's shadow inches across his page as he snoozes |
Andrew Detheridge lives in Tipton, UK. He was
recently appointed Poet in Residence at Sandwell College
in the West Midlands where he works as an English lecturer.
His work has been widely published in the UK, New Zealand, Australia,
Canada and USA, including Envoi, Orbis, Fire, Manifold and still.
